The Two Words That Make Your Conversations Crash & Burn 🚨

Hey there, Reader,

Ever had an employee say,

“You never appreciate my work!” or

“You always give the best projects to someone else”?

Feels a bit dramatic, right? Like a soap opera but with fewer commercial breaks.

When we use words like never and always, we throw gasoline on the conversation fire. These words make people defensive real fast.

Suddenly, they’re no longer listening to your valid points. They’re too busy scanning their memory for that one time they actually did meet the deadline or didn’t interrupt a meeting.

Nothing in work (or life) is always or never.

So, what do you say instead?

Try this:

👉 Swap “You never meet deadlines” for “I’ve noticed the last few deadlines have been missed. Let’s figure out what’s going on.”

👉 Ditch “You always interrupt” for “I’ve noticed in the last couple of meetings that you’ve jumped in before others finished. Let’s work on that.”

See the difference?

No immediate argument, just a clear, factual approach that actually moves the conversation forward instead of crashing it into a wall.

So, here’s your challenge for the week: Pay attention to how often you hear (or use) “never” and “always.” Then, try replacing them with more specific, constructive language.

Your body reacts instinctively, and the other person picks up on it—even if you don’t realize it. Next...
